Bluegrass Jam

Join us for an afternoon of spontaneous, relaxed bluegrass playing! Open to all ages; participants should be able to play simple chords in time. You'll get an introduction to the world of bluegrass jamming and learn about the kinds of songs you'll encounter in your local jam scene.

Free Demo Session of Music Together® Generations

For families with young children (infants to 5 years old)
Join us for a free demo class at The Gables in Winchester! Our new Music Together® Generations music class is for young kids and their grownups, but includes the sweetest twist: the addition of senior participants at the The Gables. Kids and their grownups attend class with residents at The Gables and spend time making music as a large extended family. The 8-week spring semester class begins February 1.
All Music Together classes use the program's award-winning music, loved by children and grownups alike. Children enjoy a playful

Halloween Pick-up Band for Winchester's Trunk or Treat

We're looking for woodwind, brass, percussion, ukulele, guitar, bass and other instrumentalists to play spooky themed music to kick off this fun town-wide event. No marching is required - we'll play standing in place. Costumes are welcome. This event takes place in the Jenks Center parking lot, across from Town Hall. We'll meet at 9:30 AM in the parking lot for a quick run through rehearsal and play at 10:30 AM. We should be wrapped up by around 10:45 AM. Pick up your music parts in the front office once you've signed up to perform.

Music MAYnia

Music MAYnia is our annual music performathon and community festival. Held on the first Sunday in May, Music MAYnia is free and open to the public and features live music, instrument demos, games, arts & crafts, food trucks, and more! Students of all ages and abilities perform live on four stages providing continuous music ranging from classical to rock. It's a popular music festival that many community members attend annually.

MusicFest Open House

WCMS has a wonderful building full of musical instruments--and once a year, you can come meet them all! Our annual MusicFest is free and fun for all ages. This musical open house features meet-the-instrument sessions, instrument demos, a scavenger hunt, and a fun opportunity to explore our building. Faculty members and current WCMS students will show you what makes each instrument unique and fun. Participate in the scavenger hunt and win a prize!

Looking to hang out in the WCMS Pan Yard to practice your steel pan skills, or test-drive a pan before signing up for our new steel drum ensemble in February? WCMS will be hosting three steel drum meet-up nights where you can drop in, play the drums, and practice your skills. These are casual evenings with no specific instruction or format. You can drop in at any point and stay as long as you wish. The meet-ups will be hosted by WCMS Advisor and volunteer, Sara McCabe.
