In June 1977, Renee Freer, nicknamed Giggles, went out to play with her friends. A few hours later, she was found dead. In a true crime book unlike most, E. C. Hanson stumbles upon an unsolved murder case that haunted his former stepfather. Unable to get specifics from the old and new guard of detectives, Hanson forges ahead, mining what he can from previously released articles and people who lived in the neighborhood at the time.

Please join us as author Alexis Prescott discusses her recent release, The First Witches: Women of Power in the Classical World, a book which provides a readable overview of how the Western witch originated. So profound was the impact of the classical witch upon Western thought and literature that she even lives on today as a prototype of the gruesome woman found in folklore, horror stories and movies.

Based on Jeremy D'Entremont's book Boston Light: Three Centuries of History, this talk focuses on Boston Light Station, the site of the first lighthouse on the North American continent. Jeremy will trace its history through three centuries of tragedy, rescues, and colorful human interest stories of keepers and their families.
