Photography Atelier II with Traer Scott (Online)

The Griffin Museum is pleased to continue its legacy of fostering creative growth by offering, for the first time, Photography Atelier II with Traer Scott (Online). This portfolio and project building course will inspire students who have already completed Photography Atelier I to continue to pursue new approaches in their photographic practice, and help guide them in elevating/extending concept building, and explore new methods for continuing an existing series, or creating a new project, carrying over the knowledge and experience gained in Photography Atelier I. Students will participate in weekly / bi-weekly critiques, and this program will offer a comprehensive opportunity to discover new tools and techniques that will keep your work relevant and compelling. Each student will have one private meeting with the instructor in the Fall and one in the Winter/Spring, and guest lecturers will present special topics over the duration of the 23 sessions of the class. The objective for this class is to further develop your personal photographic vision and elevate your understanding of a photography project and where it can go. Participants will work on multiple elements that enhance their image making: from the articulation, presentation, and potential installation of the work, to how you can effectively transition your work from the prints on the wall to a successful photo book. We are excited to meet the needs of the photographic artists who have invested in the Griffin Museum's Atelier I with this nine-month intensive program offered once a year, and culminating in a virtual exhibition, and an industry expert panel online review of each students work at the end of the class. The panel of experts will include a museum curator, a gallery expert, and a publisher / editor. The classes will meet weekly from mid-September to mid-December, breaking for the holiday season in December. The class will begin again in January, and the class will then meet bi-weekly through mid-May. This class is currently offered online only. Prerequisites: Photography Atelier I at the Griffin Museum. Advanced level photographic artists, with experience in developing a project, may also participate. If you have questions, email donna@griffinmuseum.org. Students should be at a highly proficient level in using manual settings on an SLR or Mirrorless camera that has interchangeable lenses. They should also be highly proficient in using Lightroom, or other photo editing software.
