Applying for grants to fund your personal project requires preparation and insights into a prospective funder's priorities. Learns the essential components of a successful grant proposal, and how to write a project description that stands out to jurors. This session will also provide advice on researching foundations, residencies and other funding sources that align with your short and long-term goals. Holly Stuart Hughes is an independent editor, writer, and grant consultant. The former editor-in-chief of PDN, she has written on photography and media for Time.com, Next TV, Multichannel News, The Telegraph, Taschen Books, Carlton Publishing, and Blouin ArtInfo Media. As an editor and grant writer, she helps creative professionals communicate their ideas effectively in artists' statements and project proposals that appeal to foundation and government funders. A member of the Advisory Council of CENTER in Santa Fe, she consulted on The Democratic Lens: Photography and Civic Engagement, CENTER's public discussion series supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities.
