Focus: Photo Arts Development with Judith Pishnery

The Griffin Museum is pleased to offer this advanced beginner - intermediate level project development program that will help photographic artists to develop their skills, hone their style, and provide the structure necessary to create a new photographic series or enhance an existing body of work. This workshop will provide mentorship, and the framework of group critiques, as students work towards developing or completing a full photographic series.

Participants will define what a series means for them, discuss ways that other artists have approached beginning a body of work, experiment with developing new ideas and styles, explore the ways that writing can support a project, refine how to speak about your work, and learn the importance of editing and sequencing to create a clear and powerful narrative.

Participants do need to have a basic, working knowledge of image capture and print output (whether you print yourself or through a lab), as well as editing and image management software such as Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom.

Level: Advanced Beginner to Intermediate.

Dates: Jan 30, Feb 27, Mar 26, April 30, May 21, and Jun 11, 2024.
