As we continue the brisk march into the age of AI, we are challenged to reconsider the ways in which photographs are made and understood within these technological contexts. Artificial Intelligence is positioned to uproot not only the traditions of photography, but it's very identity as a medium and a means of visual communication. This online workshop will survey this burgeoning history found at the intersections of photography and AI. Over the course of 4 sessions, we will review a diverse range of photographic projects made with artificial intelligence. Alongside this visual tour, we will discuss a range of issues related to authorship, creativity, truth, belief, and authenticity, all in effort to better understand the complexities and implications of a new, bold, and often strange new era in the history of picture-making. This class will include lecture and class discussion time. Dates: September 26th - October 24th, 2024 Day and Time: Thursdays, 6:30 - 8:30pm, ET Price: Members, $250.00 / Non-Members, $300.00 (This includes a one year membership to the Griffin Museum).
