Winchester Coalition for a Safer Community

A comprehensive community-based organization housed within the Health Department that works collaboratively with town residents, departments and agencies to reduce substance abuse, particularly in the youth community, and to foster safe choices and healthy living through education.

Mission

The Winchester Coalition for a Safer Community is an organization housed within the Winchester Health Department whose primary focus is to improve the health of residents and other community members through education and prevention efforts in the areas of substance use disorder and mental health. Since 1999 the Coalition has partnered with other town departments and organizations, including the Winchester Police Department, Winchester Public Schools, Parent to Parent, the Network for Social Justice, the Jenks Center, the Rotary Club of Winchester, the Winchester Chamber of Commerce, and Winchester Hospital.

Programs

The Coalition offers programs in the areas of mental health, substance misuse, and personal and community safety. The programs are free of charge thanks to a generous sustaining grant from Cummings Foundation.
