Friends of Winchester Hospital

The Friends of Winchester Hospital is an auxiliary group that for more than 60 years has given time and financial support to improve the lives of patients and their families in our community. Two of the group’s most unique projects are the Holiday Rose distribution, where the Friends hand-deliver a rose to every hospital patient on Christmas Eve, and the Read to Me Program, which since 1997 has given tens of thousands of storybooks to new parents to share with their newborns, as a way to emphasize the importance of reading to children.

The Friends raise all funds to support these special projects through annual membership dues and donations. The group also sells handmade goods at its “Friendly Table,” part of the annual Winton Club Fair. Each December, as part of the “Tree of Lights” fundraiser, community members donate to the Friends in honor or remembrance of loved ones.
